Delhi boy Goswami hits 255 in a T20 game

New Delhi Abhishek Goswami, a 17-year-old from Delhi, entered the record books when he smashed a whirlwind 255   the highest score by an Indian batsman in minor cricket in T20 cricket -- during an Inter-school match here on Friday.

Abhishek Goswami, a 17-year-old from Delhi, entered the record books when he smashed a whirlwind 255   the highest score by an Indian batsman in minor cricket in T20 cricket -- during an Inter-school match here on Friday. Goswami scored a remarkable 255 off just 76 balls in a Twenty20 match in NIE Cremica Cup Inter-school cricket tournament to steer his side, Modern School, to 388 for one against Andhra Education Society and set up an easy 339-run win over their opponents.

Haryana beat HP in Sub-junior football 

Haryana beat Himachal Pradesh 2-0 in the inaugural match of the Sub-junior North Zone National Footabll Championship being played at the MLSAM College on Friday. Neeraj of Haryana scored both the goals (63rd min,90 min). In another match, Delhi beat Uttarakhand 1-0. Mehul Verma scored the lone goal of the match. Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Delhi, Uttarakhand are placed in Group A, while Punjab, UP, J&K and Chandigarh are in Group B.

Rasool should be in World Cup squad, says Bedi

Former India captain Bishan Singh Bedi said Parvez Rasool deserves a place in World Cup squad. “Perveez Rasool, what a player! An off-spinner, who can bat. He is by far the best off-spinner that the country has at the moment and a brilliant tonker. To me, he should be in the World Cup team,” said Bedi. “They have such good players in their side that even Delhi will not have such players. The win against Mumbai is no fluke.”

FIH miffed with BCCI counsel’s claim

The International Hockey Federation (FIH) has taken a strong exception to the BCCI counsel’s claim that it permits officials to hold commercial stakes in the sport. Sibal had cited the conflict of interest guidelines framed by the FIH to argue that this did not prevent an administrator from contesting elections in sporting bodies. — Agencies
