London, September 23

Free-scoring Manchester City turned on the style after a difficult start to the game to thrash Crystal Palace 5-0 on Saturday, taking their tally to 16 goals in their last three Premier League games.

Manchester United equalled their best start to a Premier League campaign after Romelu Lukaku scored his eighth goal of the season in all competitions to give them a 1-0 win at Southampton. The result left United second on 16 points from five games, behind leaders City on goal difference.

Alvaro Morata scored a hat-trick as third-placed Chelsea kept up their pursuit of Manchester’s pace-setters by routing Stoke City 4-0. Tottenham Hotspur secured a 3-2 victory at West Ham United, having survived a late comeback from their London rivals and played the last 20 minutes with 10 men.

Simon Mignolet conceded and then saved a late penalty as Liverpool clung on for a 3-2 win over Leicester City in a pulsating clash at the King Power Stadium.

Man U ask for footage over chant about Lukaku

Man United have asked for CCTV footage to help identify fans who sang a controversial song about striker Lukaku during Saturday’s win. Lukaku asked fans to “move on” from the chant on Friday. However, the song was heard in United’s win at St Mary’s Stadium. — Agencies
