Usain Bolt registered a facile win in his first race of the year in Europe, but the Jamaican failed to break 20 seconds in the 200m at the Golden Spike meet in Ostrava. In wet conditions, Bolt clocked 20.13 seconds, well outside his 19.19 seconds world record mark to beat American Isiah Young on Tuesday. “Can’t be satisfied if I don’t break 20 seconds,” said the 28-year-old who is building up to the World Championships in August. He won 100m, 200m and sprint relay gold at the 2013 World Championships in Moscow. “I just need to try to get myself into running shape. I really wanted to break 20 seconds but the conditions didn’t allow it. And I’m coming back from injuries, so it’s going to take time,” Bolt said.

PCB looks to host Sri Lanka next year
Having managed to impress the visiting Zimbabwe cricket team with its security arrangements, the PCB is now targeting a tour by Sri Lanka sometime in April next year. According to sources, the PCB has managed to convince the head of the Sri Lankan cricket interim committee, Siddhart Wettimuny, to visit Lahore for the last One-day international against Zimbabwe this Sunday. “PCB chairman Shaharyar Khan plans to hold talks with Wettimuny on the possibility of Sri Lanka sending its team for a series in April next year,” the source said. “Pakistan has already got positives vibes from Sri Lanka and they are hopeful they will host another international side next year,” the source added.

Ghosal, Joshana in quarters of Hong Kong meet
Saurav Ghosal and Joshana Chinappa advanced to the quarterfinals of the HKFC International squash tournament here on Wednesday. Second seed Ghosal got past compatriot Harinder Pal Sandhu 11-3, 11-7, 11-5. He next plays Adnan Nafiizwan of Malaysia. Fourth seed Joshana overcame the challenge of Deon Saffery 9-11, 11-8, 11-3, 11-7 and will now take on Malaysian Delia Arnold.
