Claiming to have resolved all outstanding issues with the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB), the Indian cricket board (BCCI) today announced the resumption of bilateral cricket ties between the two teams, starting with a four-Test series in July-August.

“The BCCI and the West Indies Cricket Board have resolved outstanding issues arising out of the abandonment of the tour of the West Indies to India in 2014,” the BCCI said in a statement.

With this understanding, a proposed bilateral series as part of the Future Tours Programme will be resumed, and the Indian team will tour the West Indies in July-August for a Test series. BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur said the upcoming tour will add to the renewed bonhomie in the ties between the two cricket boards.

“BCCI is happy to resume bilateral ties with the WICB,” he said.

WICB president Dave Cameron said: “We are extremely delighted that the concerns which arose due to the incomplete tour have been addressed and we would like to thank the BCCI for reviving our ties.”

Earlier, BCCI president Shashank Manohar had announced that board would waive a claim of $41.97 million made on the WICB for pulling out midway during their 2014 tour of India. Manohar also said that the remaining part of that series will be played in 2017. — PTI
