New delhi, August 31

BCCI president Anurag Thakur on Wednesday said the board is in no hurry to host a day-night Test match in the country. The BCCI, though, has already started its experiment with the pink ball in the ongoing Duleep Trophy tournament. Thakur said the board will take a decision on the pink ball’s suitability to the Indian conditions after the ongoing domestic tournament gets over. “BCCI is not in a hurry to take any decision and will continue carrying out trials,” said Thakur. “This is one of the tournaments where we are trying the pink ball. Once it is completed, BCCI can take a call whether the pink ball is viable in Indian conditions or not.”

Duleep Trophy: Rain makes another interruption

Greater Noida: Dinesh Karthik and Sheldon Jackson added 85 runs at a fair clip in 16.2 overs before heavy downpour rendered the outfield unplayable in the rain-hit Duleep Trophy match between India Red and India Blue here today.

Jackson impressed with an unbeaten 48 off 55 balls, which contained eight fours. Karthik was batting on 35 off 65 balls as yet another day was curtailed by the elements at the Greater Noida Sports Complex Ground. India Blue were 285/5 in 78.2 overs when play was called off. Play is expected to start 15 minutes early on the final day but the bad news is that more rain is expected.

Jackson and Karthik, who were yet to open their account overnight, began the proceedings at 200/5 in a confident manner, steadying the ship that was shaken by spinner Kuldeep Yadav’s four-wicket burst last evening. — PTI

Brief scores: India Blue: 285/5 in 78.2 overs (Gambhir 77, Agarwal 92, Jackson 48*; Yadav 4/78) vs India Red
