Dharamsala, April 27

Arjun Tendulkar, son of legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, is in Dharamsala for a National Cricket Academy camp.

Arjun is here along with 25 other under-19 players.

The camp is being held at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium here. The players participating in the camp are putting up inside the stadium and are not allowed to move out.

The sources in the HPCA said Sachin Tendulkar is expected to visit his son in the camp on May 1.

The camp had started on April 18 and would end at May 18.

Arjun counts Australian left-arm pacer Mitchell Starc and England all-rounder Ben Stokes among his role models.

He also carries enormous weight of expectations being the son of Sachin Tendulkar.

The spokesperson of the HPCA, Sanjay Sharma, said that it was a matter of pride that Dharamsala was hosting the National Cricket Academy camp.

When asked if Sachin Tendulkar would visit Dharamsala on May 1 during the camp, Sanjay Sharma said that it was being expected.

He said during the stint of Anurag Thakur as HPCA president, it was proposed that National Cricket Academy should be opened in Himachal Pradesh.

The BCCI had requested the state government to provide land for the academy. However, the then Congress government did not provide land for the academy. The NCA has now been set up in Bangalore and Himachal has missed on the opportunity, he said.

Sanjay Sharma said had the cricket academy been opened in Dharamsala, it would have boosted the tourism in the area.
