St George’s, April 25

England were poised to win the second Test against West Indies on Saturday, chasing a target of 143 on the final day after James Anderson led the victory charge.

Anderson ripped through the middle order, finishing with four wickets as well as claiming two catches and running out Jason Holder, as the home team were bowled out for 307. Anderson, taking full advantage of the new ball, claimed the important wicket of Kraigg Brathwaite for 116 after the centurion could not keep down a sharply rising delivery that was caught by Joe Root in the gully.

Anderson also removed Shivnarine Chanderpaul for seven and Marlon Samuels for 37. He caught Jermaine Blackwood at mid-off for 10 off Chris Jordan. — Reuters
