Los Angeles, April 21

Aditi Ashok, who had a brilliant first round with a 3-under 68 that included 14 out of 14 fairways, slipped in the second with a card of 73, placing her at tied-16 after 36 holes in the Los Angeles Open. Aditi had three birdies, but she gave away far too many bogeys — five in all — and ended at a 2-over 73. Moriya Jutanugarn (68-66) at an 8-under and Marina Alex (67-68) at a 7-under occupy the first two places.

Lahiri makes amends in Texas

San Antonio (Texas): Anirban Lahiri played a solid 4-under 68 that propelled him to tied-46th, helping him make the cut comfortably at the Valero Texas Open. Lahiri, who missed a huge number of short putts in windy conditions in the first round, had six birdies against two bogeys as he hauled himself from a 4-over 76 to an even par 144 after 36 holes at the AT&T Oaks Course at TPC San Antonio.

Shubhankar Sharma, despite a much-improved card of 73 in the second round, ended a 5-over 149 and missed the cut. A total of 80 players at a 1-over 145 from a field of 156 professionals made the cut. Zach Johnson, who made a massive turnaround after being 3-over through 12 in the first round, added a 7-under 65 to his first round 2-under 70 and at a 9-under he was tied with Ryan Moore (68-67).

After opening with a 76, Lahiri shot a solid 68 to end the second round in tied-48.

Lahiri made a bogey on the third before reeling off three birdies over his next four holes to turn in 34. On his inward nine, the Indian made birdies on the 12th, 14th and the 17th against a second bogey on the 15th.

Sharma had two birdies, on the 1st and 14th, and three bogeys in his 73 after a first round 76.

Gangjee tied-2nd, Ajeetesh tied-7th

Osaka: Rahil Gangjee shot a 3-under 69 to lie tied-2nd after the third round of the Panasonic Open Golf Championship. Gangjee was one behind Korea's Hyungsung Kim, who birdied the 18th and final hole to go to the top of the leaderboard. Kim's three-day total of a 12-under-par 201 gave him a slender one shot lead over Gangjee.

Arjun Atwal had a superb round with four birdies, an eagle and a double bogey in his 5-under 66. Along with 73-69 on the first two days, he is now 6-under and tied-14th. SSP Chawrasia also had a fine third round of 67 and he is now 5-under and tied-21st and Shiv Kapur (68) is tied-34. Ajeetesh Sandhu, who was among the seven players at 7-under, carded a 68 which gave him a share of seventh place. — PTI
