Chandigarh, January 18

Three days after Zira MLA Kulbir Singh Zira was suspended for indiscipline, senior Congress leaders today stepped in to get his suspension revoked.

Accompanied by Cooperation Minister Sukhjinder Randhawa and Ferozepur MLA Parminder Pinki, Zira met Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh and Punjab Congress chief Sunil Jakhar this morning.

In the evening, Zira again met Jakhar and Punjab affairs incharge Asha Kumari. Sources said the Chief Minister listened to Zira before directing him to meet Asha Kumari and Jakhar.

After the meetings, Zira has been asked to attend the pre-budget meeting of the Malwa MLAs, scheduled for tomorrow.

Jakhar said they had heard him and the decision on revoking his suspension would be taken after due consideration.

It may be mentioned that the MLA was suspended from the primary membership of the party for indiscipline at a public function organised by the government to administer oath to panches and sarpanches in Ferozepur on January 12.
