Local residents today observed a complete bandh in Bhadra segment of Hanumangarh to protest the killing of Sheesh Ram Jangid, the owner of Hero Honda workshop.

Three bikers shot him in the chest and head around 8.30 pm in the market on Monday, witnesses told the police. He died on the spot. Hundreds of people last night gheraoed the police station.

Today people responded to the strike call given by the Vishvakarma Union and Joint Beopar Mandal. Hundreds of protesters along with the family of the slain mechanic staged a dharna outside the civil hospital in Bhadra and blocked the traffic on the main road. Municipal Council president Haji Daud Khan strongly condemned the incident.

CPM leader Balwan Singh Poonia and BSP activist Sheila Shekhawat addressed the protesters and slammed the authorities for failing to nab the killers.

Sub-divisional Magistrate Narinder Singh assured the protesters that the police would soon identify the culprits. Thereafter, the deceased’s family lifted the dharna.
