FAZILKA: The Jalalabad police have arrested a woman who recently accused the Amir Khas SHO and the ASI of extorting money from her in a drug peddling case.

The Jalalabad police have arrested a woman who recently accused the Amir Khas SHO and the ASI of extorting money from her in a drug peddling case. The duo was arrested four days ago.

Bimla Rani was arrested along with one Lakhwinder Singh and 200 kg poppy husk was recovered from their possession.

Sources said after a tip-off, the police had laid a barrier near Meenawala village and intercepted a car. Though two were arrested, Bimla’s husband Makhan Singh managed to flee the spot.

Jalalabad DSP Amarjit Singh said Bimla Rani had lodged a case against SHO Gurjant Singh on allegations of demanding bribe. She had alleged that the SHO had taken Rs10,000 from her and promised not to harass her and her family members Shavinder Singh and Sukhas Singh who were arrested with 150 kg poppy husk and three cars recently.
