Abohar, April 17

The police claimed to have solved the mystery shrouding the murder of Labh Singh (65), a small-time farmer, with the arrest of his distant relative Veerpal Kaur (45) from Chak 1PSD village.

Her alleged crime partner was Labh Singh (45) of Chimnewala village in Fazilka.

Investigation Officer Amarjit Chawla said the body of Labh Singh of Chak 5SJM Kamrania village was found in the fields on April 9.

Investigation indicated that Veerpal was deserted by her husband some years ago. Her distant relative Labh Singh reportedly struck a deal for Rs 60,000 with his namesake Labh Singh (Jat Sikh) of Chimnewala village to let Veerpal live with him.

However, after a few days Veerpal returned home from Chimnewala following a dispute. Her “uncle” Labh Singh then struck another deal with a distant relative who was a widower. He reportedly took Rs 10,000 as advance from her new partner. Veerpal refused to go to Hanumangarh and contacted old partner Labh Singh. The duo reportedly conspired to eliminate the “uncle”, who was reportedly insisting Veerpal on developing physical relations with him. — OC
