Bodies of a woman and a baby were found stuffed in a suitcase in the Dadar-Amritsar Express, railway police said on Saturday.

Jagjit Singh, who is in charge of the Dhuri unit of the Government Railway Police, said some passengers of the S-4 coach of the train alerted them of an abandoned suitcase emitting a rotten stench lying under a seat.

Upon checking, police found the suitcase heavy and had it brought off the train.

Singh said the woman, who police believe was in her 20s, had an injury at the back of her head while the baby—a girl of about 5-6 months—was strangled to death.

Both bodies were sent to Dhuri civil hospital for autopsy.
