Bathinda, September 13

The police on Thursday claimed to have cracked the murder case of AAP candidate from the Gill Kalan Zila Parishad zone Harvinder Singh Hinda with the arrest of four persons, including his wife, who wanted to get him eliminated due to her illicit affair. However, her paramour is still absconding.

Bathinda range IG MF Farooqui said Hinda’s wife Kiranpal Kaur and three others — Makhan Ram, Chamkaur Singh, both residents of Mari, and Jaimal Singh of Bhaini village — were arrested, while Kiranpal’s paramour Sandeep Kumar was still at large. The IG said, “During interrogation it has come to the fore that Kiranpal had an illicit relationship with Sandeep Kumar of Mansa and she wanted to get married to him, but Hinda came to know about her affair. It often led to fights between Kiranpal and her husband Harvinder Singh.”

Later, to resolve their issue, they started visiting Baba Makhan Ram, but Kiranpal got into a relationship with Baba Makhan Ram too. She told him that her husband harassed her and she wanted to kill him, said the IG.

Kiranpal told Sandeep that Makhan Ram would get their work done, after which Sandeep along with Makhan Ram started conspiring to kill Hinda. To continue his affair with Kiranpal, Makhan Ram asked his two workers Jaimal Singh and Chamkaur Singh to kill Harvinder for which he promised to pay them Rs 50,000 each. He also assured them that no case would be registered against them.

As per the plan, on September 9, Kiranpal gave some tablets to Harvinder, after which he fell unconscious. Subsequently, she called Makhan Ram, telling him to send Chamkaur and Jaimal to her house. Later, they brutally killed Harvinder.
