The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) today gave an ultimatum to Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh to sack Power Minister Rana Gurjit Singh by Monday, failing so all party MLAs would protest against the government.

The Tribune reported on Thursday how sand mining contracts of at least four sites were bagged by employees of the minister’s company during the recent e-auction.

Leader of Opposition HS Phoolka said the Chief Minister must act against the minister. “If the Chief Minister fails to remove Rana Gurjit, all AAP MLAs will march from the Punjab Vidhan Sabha to the Chief Minister’s house on Tuesday.”

Phoolka reminded Capt Amarinder that he was vocal against the previous government on illegal mining. “Why are you silent when it comes to your minister’s role in bagging mining contracts in the name of his servants?”

Lok Insaaf Party president Simarjit Singh Bains supported AAP’s protest march.
