New Delhi, Augusts 8

Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh today dismissed the demand for Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh’s resignation over a stalking case involving the son of Haryana BJP president Subhash Barala.

“How can Rajnath be held responsible for the incident, or for that matter, any irresponsible behaviour involving individuals or party leaders or their relatives in any part of the country, be it even Punjab?” he said here.

The CM demanded a free hand to the Chandigarh Police to investigate the case.

“The police should be allowed to investigate high-profile case freely and independently. No attempt should be made to water down the charges against the accused. No political interference should be allowed and the police should have absolute authority for non-partisan investigation,” he said. — TNS
