Under debt, Moga farmer ends life

FARIDKOT: Nachhatar Singh, a 41-year-old farmer of Kokri Butteran village in Moga, allegedly ended his life by consuming some poisonous substance on Tuesday.

Nachhatar Singh, a 41-year-old farmer of Kokri Butteran village in Moga, allegedly ended his life by consuming some poisonous substance on Tuesday.

Owner of 2 acres, Nachhatar Singh had taken a loan of Rs 3.4 lakh from a nationalised bank. For his failure to return the loan amount, the bank had started the process to forfeit his agriculture land. He is survived by his wife and two sons aged 7 and 2. — TNS
