Under debt, farmer ends life in Bathinda

BATHINDA: Reeling under a debt of Rs 15 lakh, a 64-year-old farmer allegedly committed suicide by consuming pesticide at Sidana village near Rampura Phul on Saturday.

Reeling under a debt of Rs 15 lakh, a 64-year-old farmer allegedly committed suicide by consuming pesticide at Sidana village near Rampura Phul on Saturday. The deceased has been identified as Sukhdev Singh. He had three acres of land.

The police said the deceased’s son, Kuldeep, said his father was upset for the past few days due to debt. The family took him to the Civil Hospital, but he was declared brought dead. — TNS
