Two held for poaching

Abohar, June 13

A team of the Department of Forest and Wildlife Preservation on Wednesday nabbed two persons for rabbit poaching near the Gang Canal at Khuikhera village.

Range officer Malkiat Singh said a farmer informed over phone on Wednesday afternoon that some persons were involved in rabbit poaching. A team reached there and nabbed Jangir Singh and Jaswinder Singh of Sajrana village. However, their accomplices Subhash Kumar and Rajpal managed to flee. A dead rabbit, tools used for poaching and their motorcycle have been seized. A case under various Sections of the Wildlife Protection Act has been registered.

Akhil Bhartiya Jeev Raksha Bishnoi Sabha president Ramesh Bishnoi and other activists visited the village and motivated locals to intensify vigil to nab poachers.
