Chandigarh, February 14

Taking cognisance of The Tribune report on turning a folk instrument museum into an office, Tourism and Cultural Affairs Minister NavjotSingh Sidhu on Thursday got the museum vacated from singer Sukhminder Kaur Brar, alias Sukhi Brar.

The Tribune had on Wednesday highlighted how Brar, who was recently made programme director of the Punjab Arts Council, had opened the Sangeetshala at Punjab Kala Bhawan in Chandigarh last Saturday and turned it into her office.

Brar said the room had been given to her under the directions of Sidhu, who had rubbished the claim.

Surjit Patar, council chairman, said while matters related to room allocation were taken up in the general body meeting, Brar had sought no permission before sitting in the room.

The furniture that Brar had purchased was taken out. Her nameplate has also been removed. —TNS
