Moga, December 27

A tantrik has been booked for allegedly raping a Moga woman with the help of her landlord on the pretext of helping her give birth to a child.

The accused has been identified as Jeewan Baba. He has been booked under Sections 376 and 120-B of the IPC.

The landlord identified as Mintu has also been made a co-accused in the case. The police said the victim used to live with her husband at a rented accommodation in an outer locality of Moga city. She originally hails from Ludhiana city.

The couple had no child due to which they were living under depression.

The landlord introduced the couple to the tantrik, who visited the couple’s house many a time to perform black magic.

On December 9, the tantrik persuaded the woman to drink a sedative-laced tea, following which the woman fainted and the tantrik committed the crime.

The police said the woman’s medical examination had been conducted at the district hospital and her statement would be recorded in the local judicial court tomorrow.
