Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) candidate Sukhbir Singh Badal on Tuesday raised the pitch for development while promising unprecedented growth of villages along the Indo-Pak border which have remained devoid of even basic amenities.

He said what he had done for Jalalabad and Bathinda would be replicated here too, adding that the villages would usher into new era and would become “mini Chandigarh” if he gets elected as an MP from this constituency. At a few places, he even promised to convert this area into “California of Punjab”.

While conducting a whirlwind tour of this constituency, Sukhbir claimed that the Congress regime under its CM Capt Amarinder Singh were planning to impose power bills on farmers’ tube wells immediately after the Lok Sabha elections. While cautioning people against such move, he said “already they have made mistake by trusting Capt Amarinder and voting him to power during the previous Assembly polls”.

Addressing a series of public meetings in Mudki, Mamdot and Ferozepur Cantonment areas, Sukhbir claimed that: “No one fights for Punjab like we do.”
