Jalandhar, June 12

Ridiculing the Congress over the “changing” statements on power availability, SAD chief Sukhbir Badal on Tuesday alleged that the government did not know how to manage thermal plants.

“Earlier, CM Capt Amarinder Singh said the state was power surplus. The PSPCL chairman too endorsed the view, but Power Minister Gurpreet Kangar keeps changing his stance. I think they do not know how to manage power production,” said the former Deputy CM, who was in city on Tuesday.

Sukhbir said the government’s decision to postpone paddy transplantation was an attempt to save government subsidy on power to the farm sector.

Former minister Bikram Majithia said the late sowing of paddy would have adverse effects on the yield. He said the lodging of cases against farmers was condemnable. “These farmers have done nothing wrong. We will stand by them,” the ex-minister added.
