Jalandhar, May 30

Enlisting the BJP-led Union Government’s achievements, party’s general secretary Tarun Chugh on Wednesday said, “The BJP has ensured a 360 degree holistic development of every citizen and will continue to do so till 2022.”

Chug said the government had managed to rise above the politics of caste and creed and also dynasty rule and focused on development.

“Whether construction of national highways to linking villages through Gramin Sadak Yojana or construction of international airports to small ones for regional connectivity, our government has done all in the past four years,” said Chugh.

He said the Centre had increased its state share by 210 per cent in the past four years. “An additional share of Rs 41,400 crore in the state share was given to Punjab, which was released to various local bodies and gram panchayats,” said Chugh.

However, the state unit could not qualify its own litmus test when asked to share performance data of major flagship schemes run by the Union Government in the state.

Though three cities - Amritsar, Jalandhar and Ludhiana - were declared smart cities, the state BJP unit could not give a favourable reply as to why these cities could not boast of even a single project work completed in the past three years.

While Chugh claimed that some people have availed grant under the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana, he could not provide statistics to prove his claim. Similarly in MUDRA scheme too, the state unit was ignorant on the number of beneficiaries.
