For the first time after resigning from the Cabinet, Navjot Singh Sidhu was in his constituency to inaugurate the LED streetlight project at Verka here on Friday. He paid obeisance at the historical Gurdwara Nanaksar.

Sidhu also obliged local residents, especially children, to click selfies with him. A large number of people assembled at the site to have a glimpse of the former minister. He, however, avoided media and didn’t respond to any of their queries. He didn’t even give details about the project.

In the presence of a supporters, he inaugurated the streetlight project outside the gurdwara and left the spot after 15 minutes. The pomp and show associated with Sidhu was missing in the event. As the project falls under the Smart City scheme, Mayor Karamjit Singh Rintu too missed the function. Four councillors Navdeep Hundal, Rajesh Madan, Moti Bhatia and Damanjeet, were present.
