HOSHIARPUR: The Shiv Sena, the BJP’s Maharashtra ally, has demanded that PM Narendra Modi should give Rs 15 lakh to every resident of Hoshiarpur, the promise he made during his rally in the constituency in 2014. The Shiv Sainiks have decided to go on the stage during the PM Modi’s rally in Hoshiarpur on May 10 and ask him for Rs 15 lakh for the residents. This decision was taken at a meeting of the party chaired by Shiv Sena state vice-president Ranjeet Rana on Tuesday. Rana said Modi had forgotten his promise of jobs to two crore people and Rs 15 lakh each in every account. OC

Warring follows mentors’s example

Bathinda: Following in the footsteps of his political mentor Jagmeet Brar, Congress candidate Amrinder Singh Raja Warring on Tuesday gave a slogan, “note ameeran de, vote fakeeran de” (take money from the rich, vote for the poor). Jagmeet had given the same slogan when he contested against SAD chief Sukhbir Badal from Faridkot in the 1999 Lok Sabha polls and went on to defeat him. Stating that the SAD supporters are putting up their flags in the villages being visited by him, he gave another slogan, “Jhanda chhat te, vote haath te” (Akali flag on roof, but vote for Congress), which, he said, happened in the past too.
