Abohar, December 7

The special investigation team, which had been chasing a sharpshooter in Delhi, Haryana and Chandigarh for seven days, finally nabbed him from his friend’s house in Fazilka on Friday night.

The police said Rohit Godara figured on the top 10 most-wanted criminals’ list maintained by the Bikaner range police. A cash prize for Rs 5 lakh was announced for his arrest. His name reportedly figured in 14 cases, including those of murder, robbery and loot in Sriganganagar, Churu and Bikaner districts. Rohit and five others were booked on October 24, 2019 when miscreants gunned down Bhim Saharan at a village in Sardarshahar. Bhim was a BJP leader and sarpanch of his village.

Bhim was heading for some work in his car when another car intercepted him following which a group of men fired indiscriminately at him. The killers fled and Bhim died. As no suspect could be nabbed, DIG Jose Mohan formed an SIT with the Kalu police station in-charge Devi Lal and Raziasar SHO Suresh Kaswan to nab them. — OC
