The SGPC today suspended its two employees — additional secretary (dharam prachar) Bijay Singh and sewadar Gurtej Singh — after complaints of seeking bribe from youth for offering them job in the committee were received against them.

Shiromani Committee chief secretary Dr Roop Singh said this was done as per the written directions of the SGPC chief Gobind Singh Longowal.

During the suspicion period Bikay Singh would remain posted at Takht Kesgarh Sahib and Gurtej Singh would perform his duty at Gurdwara Charan Kanwal Sahib in Machiwara.

A sub-committee is already probing the allegations against the two. It was directed to submit its report at the earliest.

Bijay Singh refuted the allegations and said he was a victim of a conspiracy.
