A team of the Sriganganagar-based Anti-Corruption Bureau today nabbed Ranveer Singh, sarpanch at the gram panchayat office in Chunawadh village, for allegedly accepting Rs 3,000 as bribe from a farmer.

ACB ASP Rajinder Dhidharia said one Satpal Singh had complained that the sarpanch had demanded Rs 5,000 as bribe to issue lease documents. The deal was finally struck for Rs 3,000.

The ACB verified the complaint by recording a conversation between the complainant and sarpanch.

Ranveer called Satpal Singh to the panchayat office today to pay the bribe. When Ranveer allegedly accepted chemically treated currency notes and put those in his pocket, the ACB team nabbed the sarpanch and seized the money. He will be produced in a special court tomorrow.
