SAD: Won’t allow kurki of farmers’ land

Chandigarh, July 18

SADpresident Sukhbir Singh Badal on Wednesday directed the party rank and file to oppose any attempt by the Congress government to sell land of thousands of indebted farmers by initiating “kurki” proceedings against them.

Reacting to The Tribune report, Sukhbir, in a statement, alleged that it was shocking that after failing to fulfil its loan waiver promise, the Congress had now started the process to sell land of 12,635 farmers across six districts to recover debt.

Claiming that more than 500 farmers had already committed suicide, Sukhbir said the latest action would further raise the suicide rate in the state. — TNS
