SAD leader booked for bungling

A case has been registered at Khuyiansarwer police station against the sarpanch of Maujgarh village in the Abohar subdivision under sections 409, 420, 465, 467, 468 and 471 of the IPC and the Prevention of Corruption Act. Sarpanch Radhey Ram Jakhar is former SAD district vice-president.

Village resident Krishan Kumar had alleged that the sarpanch had “embezzled” pension of his sister-in-law by using her fake thumb impressions. After the probe report, the district police chief gave his nod to register the FIR.

BJP legislator Arun Narang rubbished the FIR as politically motivated. “Radhey Ram is an affluent landlord, there was no ground to suspect his conduct,” he said. The sarpanch described the action as vendetta. — OC
