Chandigarh, April 20

Raninder Singh, son of Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh, is back on the political scene. He has been assigned a crucial role in the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) during the conduct of the Lok Sabha elections.

He was seen along with PPCC chief Sunil Jakhar and senior vice president Lal Singh, chairing a meeting of chiefs of the 13 parliamentary segments and presidents of the district units here on Saturday.

Sources said in the war room set up by the election monitoring committee headed by Lal Singh, Raninder Singh had been assigned the role to monitor the election campaign.

Addressing the party leaders, Raninder said he would be sitting at the party’s headquarters and listen to the issues related to party workers.

After having lost the 2012 Assembly polls from Samana and 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Bathinda, Raninder Singh had been keeping a low profile. He is now being involved in organisational building.

In today’s meeting, the election management committee announced that one secretary incharge would be heading a 10-member committee in each of the 13 Lok Sabha segments.
