The Vigilance Bureau has booked a registry clerk posted in the tehsildar’s office at Baghapurana for allegedly overcharging for the registration of land.

Sources said Sukhjinder Singh, alias Sukha, of Gholia Kalan village had filed a complaint that the official had charged Rs 7,000 from him instead of Rs 900.

The VB conducted a probe into the allegations and registered a case against the registry clerk. He is yet to be arrested.

It may be mentioned that a racket of illegal sale of old stamp papers at high rates has been going on at the mini-secretariat in Moga, besides Baghapurana, Nihalsinghwala and Dharamkot towns.
