Baba Bakala, August 26

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Bhagwant Mann said here on Sunday that the Congress government had leaked the report of the Justice Ranjit Singh (retd) Commission so that the Akalis could save their skin by intimidating the witnesses.

Addressing the AAP rally at the Rakhar Punia fair, he accused Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh of shielding the Badals in the Behbal Kalan firing and Bargari sacrilege cases.

Mann said farmers were feeling cheated as Capt Amarinder had “backtracked” from the promise of loan waiver, while the youth were awaiting jobs and smartphones.

On the ongoing tussle within the state AAP, Mann said the party had come into being under Arvind Kejriwal with the aim of cleansing the administrative and political system. Anybody violating party discipline will have to face the consequences, he said.

Leader of Opposition Harpal Singh Cheema demanded live telecast of the presentation of the Commission report. He said the SGPC had no right to reject the report.

The Lok Insaaf Party, led by Atam Nagar MLA Simarjit Singh Bains, held a rally and carried out a march against the drug menace and the incidents of sacrilege. The SAD (Amritsar) also organised a rally on the occasion.
