Rahul rally in Khanna today

Chandigarh/Faridkot, May 12

Congress president Rahul Gandhi will address a rally in Khanna on Monday morning and in Hoshiarpur in the afternoon.

With the sixth phase of polling ending on Sunday, top Congress leadership is set to aggressively campaign in Punjab. Rahul’s rallies will be followed by a rally and a road show by Priyanka Gandhi in Bathinda and Pathankot. Rajasthan Deputy CM Sachin Pilot would address rallies in Anandpur Sahib. Rahul would again be addressing the public in Faridkot and Laudhiana on May 15.

He will visit Bargari, the epicentre of sacrilege and subsequent police firing incidents, on May 15 to stimulate party election campaign and ‘discredit’ the SAD on its traditional panthic vote-bank plank.

By harping on Justice (retd) Ranjit Singh Commission Report, which had accused SAD leaders, and the subsequent action taken by the SIT, Rahul and other Congress leaders will aim to defuse the situation aroused following Congress leader Sam Pitroda’s statement on riots. As Bargari is situated in between Faridkot and Bathinda, the Congress plans to cater both to Bathinda and Faridkot constituencies.
