Chandigarh, July 14

Soon after Navjot Sidhu’s  letter went viral, Cabinet Ministers Brahm Mohindra and Charanjit Channi took him on, describing him as “king of theatrics”.

Sidhu had been unhappy at being “singled out” by the CM  over “poor” show by his Local Bodies Department.

On June 6, instead of attending a Cabinet meeting, he had held a press conference at his residence, triggering a Cabinet reshuffle. After he was shifted out of  Local Bodies, Tourism and Culture ministries to Power Ministry for the party’s poor show in urban areas in the LS polls, Sidhu rushed to Delhi to lodge a protest where Rahul Gandhi asked Patel to broker peace.

Patel, besides meeting the Chief Minister, met some Punjab ministers on the issue.

Sidhu was left out of consultative groups formed by Capt Amarinder two days after the reshuffle to accelerate implementation of government’s flagship schemes. — TNS
