The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has begun probe into the killing of 32-year-old Sukhwinder Singh of Khara village in the district. He was reportedly gunned down in Mysuru by the Karnataka police on Thursday morning. The Karnataka police claimed that Sukhwinder Singh alias Shaan was a gangster. It claimed that two of his accomplices were absconding.

The police claimed that Shaan had earlier worked as security guard with many Bollywood celebrities, including Akshay Kumar.

He was a part of a fake currency racket. He was in Mysuru to collect demonetised notes. It is alleged that the gang was collecting wads of demonetised notes from different parts of the country for its security thread. The gang was using this thread of devalued notes to print counterfeit notes of Rs 2,000 denomination, it claimed.

“We have informed the family members of Sukhwinder after getting the information about his killing,” Raj Bachan Singh Sandhu, SSP. A sister and maternal uncle of the deceased have already left for Mysuru.

Sukhwinder’s sister is a dentist. After the death of his mother about eight years ago, Sukhwinder had gone to Canada, but he was deported for indulging in a scuffle there,” said sources at Khara village. His father, an arhtiya, died two years ago.
