Police grill Bishop Franco for nine hours; questioning ends at 5 am

Kerala Police grilled Bishop Franco Mulakkal for over nine hours on Monday night. The Bishop's questioning ended at around 5 am.

However, no arrests have been made so far. The police said they needed to examine the case scientifically.

It was on Monday that the Kerala Police team, which arrived in Jalandhar four days back to investigate the alleged rape case lodged by a nun, finally entered the premises of the Bishop House.

As the Bishop arrived in a convoy at 7.45 pm, his guards and some supporters allegedly manhandled mediapersons from Kerala. The Kerala police team also quizzed Father Antony and Jalandhar Diocese PRO Father Peter at the Police Lines.

His lawyer said he just got a notice that the Bishop should appear before police at 8 pm. The Bishop was around, so he came back, he added.

The team had met some nuns and ex-nuns at the Missionaries of Jesus and priests in the past few days and recorded their statements.
