Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) general secretary Manjinder Singh Sirsa filed a criminal complaint with the police against Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan and others on Monday for hurting sentiments of the Sikh community in the trailer of movie ‘Zero’, which shows the actor wearing a kirpan.
Sirsa said the DSGMC had received a number of complaints from the Sikh community about the movie, directed by Aanand L Rai.
He said Khan had been shown wearing “gatra kirpan” (an article of Sikh faith), causing outrage among the Sikh community worldwide. He said according to the tenets of Sikhism, only an Amritdhari Sikh could wear ‘gatra kirpan’. He requested the police to lodge an FIR against Rai and Khan. He also urged them to stop the promotion of the movie.
Sirsa has also sent a communication to the chief of the Central Board of Film Certification.
