Panic gripped the holy city after a sound of blast at around 1.30 am on Friday.

Though the police officials denied any explosion they pointed out that the sounds may be produced by passing of Air Force jets.

At some places the people came out of their houses to see what exactly had occurred.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Bhupinder Singh said there was nothing as the police had verified from all quarters regarding any blast.

He urged the people not to panic and remain calm.

The social media was abuzz with the news of some explosion in the night.

The people were panicky and asking others whether they also heard a similar sound. The other theory was the sound maybe some type of sonic boom produced after passing of Air Force planes very low in the sky.
