In order to nullify the amendment in the Nanded Sikh Gurdwara Apachalnagar Sahib Act 1956 of Takht Hazur Sahib, high priests today held a meeting and constituted a seven-member committee.

Nanded board superintendent Gurvinder Singh Wadhua said the members include newly-elected board head Bhupinder Singh Minhas, besides Paramjot Singh Chahal, Tara Singh (MLA), Ravinder Singh Bunghai, Manpreet Singh Kunjiwale, Gurmeet Singh Mahajan and Amrik Singh.

The meeting was attended by Sant Baba Kulwant Singh, head priest Bhai Kashmir Singh, Bhai Ram Singh, Bhai Jyotinder Singh and priest Giani Avtar Singh Sittal.

He said the committee would annul the amendment made by the Maharashtra government in the Nanded Gurdwara Act (Section 11) which empowered the government to appoint chairperson and new members of the board.

“It has been decided that the existing board members will continue to work as per the prevailing Nanded Gurdwara Act. The Maharashtra government has scheduled a meeting with the newly-elected board on April 1 at the SGPC guest house,” he said.

On March 9, the Maharashtra government had issued a notification to reconstitute the Sikh Gurdwara Sri Hazur Apachalnagar Sahib Board in accordance with the provisions of sub-section (1) of Section 6 of the Nanded Sikh Gurdwara Apachalnagar Sahib Act 1056.

Accordingly, nine members were nominated and Bhupinder Singh Minhas was elected as the head.
