Shaheed Bhagat Singh Memorial Foundation, Pakistan, has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking Bharat Ratna for Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh.

Foundation chairman Imtiaz Rashid Qureshi on Wednesday sent a letter to Deputy High Commissioner of India in Pakistan, Gaurav Ahluwalia, for Modi, which stated that that the Government of India should bestow the highest civilian honour on Bhagat Singh posthumously on his 112th birthday for his unmatched services for the Indian subcontinent.

The letter stated countless people from both countries, including Modi, respected his passion and sacrifice. He had also appealed to Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan to honour the martyr with Nishan-e-Pakistan award.

“On September 28, a commemorative function will be held on the 112th birthday of Shaheed Bhagat Singh in the Democratic Lawn of the Lahore High Court. — TNS
