Pages of Sukhmani Sahib were found strewn on a road near a gurdwara at Khirkianwala village in Gidderbaha subdivision of the district on Friday. The police have started an investigation after registering a case against unidentified persons under Section 295-A (deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs) of the IPC.

The pages were spotted by village residents in the morning. They immediately informed the police.

Manjit Singh Dhesi, SSP, Muktsar, said, “A preliminary investigation has revealed that all Gutka Sahibs kept at the gurdwara in the village are intact.”

Sources said the gurdwara management had sacked an employee on Thursday. — TNS
