Over 1,000 cadets participate in trekking expedition

CHANDIGARH: A national level adventure expedition, Sardar Patel Narmada Trek, is being organised by the National Cadet Corps in the Junaraj Forest and Kevadiya area of Gujarat, where the recently inaugurated Statue of Unity is located.

A national level adventure expedition, Sardar Patel Narmada Trek, is being organised by the National Cadet Corps in the Junaraj Forest and Kevadiya area of Gujarat, where the recently inaugurated 'Statue of Unity' is located.

About 1,000 cadets from all across the country, including 300 from Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh NCC Directorate, are participating in the trek, which was flagged off by Maj Gen Roy Joseph, Additional Director General, NCC.

The aim of the trek, held under the command of Brig Charandeep Singh, was to build up unity and espirit-de-corps amongst cadets hailing from different regions and also to introduce them to jungle and outdoor life. 

Every cadet trekked for 50 km in the Narmada district of Gujarat for four days and camped in the open. A visit to the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel 'Statue of Unity' was also on the itinerary and the cadets were also shown the system of power generation at Narmada Dam.
