On dharna since July, retd Home Guard dies

A retired Home Guards employee sitting on a dharna near the Solakhian toll plaza since July last year died here on Sunday. The deceased was Sher Singh (65), a resident of Fazilka district.

The employees under the banner of the Retired Home Guards Welfare Association have been demanding facilities available to other government employees, including pension and health services. They are sitting on a dharna since July 10 last year. Sitting on a dharna, Sher Singh complained of stomachache in the evening, following which he was taken to the local civil hospital where the doctors declared him brought dead.

Association president Gurdeep Singh said their agitation would continue till their demands were met. —TNS
