Chandigarh, September 11

The Cooperative Department has decided not to give any extension in service to its employees upon superannuation at the age of 58 years.

A decision to this effect was taken in a meeting of the department held under the chairmanship of Cooperation Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa. It was decided that no employee of the department be given extension in service and those who had been granted would be allowed to finish their tenure.

It was during the SAD-BJP regime that the government had decided to grant two-year extension in service to employees, mainly to defer paying the retirement benefits immediately. — TNS
