Muktsar, September 13

Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) officials yesterday discontinued the power supply to Government Primary School, Bhullar village, after the authorities concerned failed to clear the dues of nearly Rs 10,000.

The school has nearly 120 students and they had to sit without fans today in a hot and humid weather.

When asked, Meena Devi, head teacher, Government Primary School, Bhullar village, admitted that the power bills were not paid, thus the supply was discontinued. She, however, said, “We are now paying the bill online and the PSPCL officials have assured that the supply would be resumed shortly.”

Meanwhile, Baljit Kumar, District Education Officer (DEO), said, “We have already released Rs 11 lakh for the payment of power bills. The problem of this school will also be sorted out soon.”
