Nigerian held with heroin worth Rs 7.5 cr

The Khanna police claimed to have recovered 1.5 kg heroin worth Rs 7.5 crore in the international market by arresting a Nigerian national.

The accused has been identified as Toby Moiz, who has been residing at Uttam Nagar in Delhi. He has been staying illegally here after the expiry of his visa. The police have also booked another Nigerian, who had given the consignment to Toby.

Addressing a press conference today, Khanna SSP Dhruv Dahiya said a police party during a naka near the Canal Bridge, Neelon, saw a foreigner walking towards Neelon Khurd village after descending from a bus that was coming from the Chandigarh side.

During checking, the police recovered heroin weighing 1.5 kg and 15 gm of crack cocaine concealed in peanut butter boxes. Crack cocaine is an expensive drug used at rave parties. During questioning, he revealed that he came to India in 2017 on a six-month visa, but now he was staying illegally as his visa had expired. The SSP said the accused brought the drug consignment from John of Delhi, who was the main supplier of drugs in Punjab. A case under various Sections of the NDPS Act has been registered against the accused and a hunt is on to arrest John.
