Enforcement Directorate raids Jalandhar Congress chief’s house, office

JALANDHAR: Enforcement Directorate officials on Friday conducted a raid at the residences and offices of district Congress chief Rural Sukhwinder Lally in a suspected case of hawala transactions by him and his associates.

Enforcement Directorate officials on Friday conducted a raid at the residences and offices of district Congress chief Rural Sukhwinder Lally in a suspected case of hawala transactions by him and his associates.

The raids were conducted at six places, including Lally’s residence in 1-acre land at Nangal Shama, office of Dreamland Properties in Model Town and another office at BSF Chowk.

The BSF Chowk office of Lally has the picture of Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh put up outside and has also been visited by him in the past. 

Lally is learnt to have set up businesses in Canada, US and Australia and also has accounts in foreign banks using illegal flight of capital from here.

The ED officials who raided the premises on the instructions of Deputy Director Niranjan Singh are learnt to have gathered a lot of documents to build up a case for the alleged violations of FEMA and track the financial transactions of the DCC chief.

Some documents pointing to benami properties too have been reportedly found.

Lally has been reportedly served summon by Niranjan Singh for December 9.

Lally’s associate in Dreamland Properties Bhupinder Singh Bhinda too has been issued summons for the same day.

PPCC chief Sunil Jakhar also has convened a meeting of party workers in Jalandhar that day.
