Taking serious note of a Dalit youth’s death following assault at Changaliwal village in Sangrur, Akal Takht officiating Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh has demanded stern action against the culprits.

Terming the act inhumane, Giani Harpreet Singh said it was the liability of the administration to put the guilty behind the bars.

Rs 20 lakh not enough: AAP

Sunam’s AAP MLA Aman Arora has sought a compensation of Rs 50 lakh for the aggrieved family. In a letter to Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh, Arora highlighted the plight of the family and how a substantial monetary compensation could help them. He said the compensation of Rs 20 lakh was not enough. Arora also sought justice for the family by exemplary punishment to the accused. He said the police did not take timely action on the dispute due to which the dalit youth lost his life. — TNS
